Sway Textile Design and Printing

sway then

6 years ago, we started printing our drawings on pieces of fabric, hand painting them and making items like bags and placements.  We didn’t know what sway would become.

In 2003 we fired ourselves from doing the printing. We loved printing, but the quantities became too big and we couldn’t afford the mistakes we were so good at.

Sway also moved away from placemats and cushion covers, as we found that clothing is a more viable medium in which to present our prints.

The name ‘sway’ was chosen from an arbitrary list of random words, and doesn’t have any deeper meaning than ‘move slow or rhythmically backwards and forwards’ or ‘ from side to side’ or influence/rule’
